Californians for Consumer Privacy is pleased to be participating in a Prop 24 Zoom Webinar happening on October 1, 2020 at 10 a.m. PST. Click here to register. During this 45 minute webinar you will learn what is California Proposition 24, why we badly need to upgrade our privacy law here in California, how Prop 24 safeguards our kids’ online privacy, how Prop 24 can limit corporations using our sensitive personal information including stopping them from geotracking us, and why you should vote Yes on Prop 24.
And the cool thing is you can hear this directly from the chair of Californians for Consumer Privacy, Alastair Mactaggart, who was not only the driving force behind California’s existing privacy law — the California Consumer Privacy Act or CCPA — but also is the lead proponent for Prop 24 — the California Privacy Rights Act or CPRA — that represents the “Version 2” upgrade to the CCPA.

Entitled “Your Privacy on the Ballot: Prop 24 and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) of 2020” the October 1st at 10 a.m. PST webinar will first look at how giant corporations are collecting and selling sensitive personal information about our kids and our health, finances, race, ethnicity and precise location. It will then discuss how existing privacy laws are not enough for us to back control over our personal data.
After discussing why Californians for Consumer Privacy is sponsoring California Proposition 24, the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), Alastair will then focus on the following topics:
- How Prop 24 is “Version 2” of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) that he championed;
- The new privacy rights Prop 24 gives us Californians;
- How Prop 24 specifically safeguards kids’ online privacy;
- How CPRA compares to Europe’s GDPR privacy law, and
- What Prop 24 means for privacy rights in California and beyond.
